DOTD Launches New On-Line Job Center
- Human Resources has created a "one stop shop" job center on the Human Resources web page. This feature allows departments to post job openings in three categories: "Immediate Hiring Needs", "Continuous Jobs", and "All Job Openings". The job center also offers applicants the ability to complete an expedited application for immediate job openings. If you would like to post your upcoming job opening in the "Immediate Hiring Needs" category in preparation for the expiration of the hiring freeze, please contact Janice Drake at (225) 379-1222 or email janicedrake@dotd.la.gov.
Job Shadowing Event
- Last month DOTD hosted a special Job Shadow Day for Scotlandville Magnet High School students. Five students were paired with DOTD engineers and engineering technicians. The day began with a tour of the Information Technology and the Intelligent Transportation sections, followed by a "shadowing" session, whereby each student accompanied a mentor to his/her workstation. A luncheon immediately followed, during which Secretary Ankner presented a check for $479 to Scotlandville Magnet's engineering program on behalf of DOTD. The money represents 10 percent of the proceeds from "Books Are Fun" sales held at headquarters last fall. The school's engineering group will use the money for various projects and field trips. Thanks to mentors, Janice Drake, Recruiting Manager, Kirk Clement, Deputy Undersecretary, and Secretary Ankner for making this event a success.
