Topographic Maps

The 15 minute series is no longer being printed by the U.S.G.S. but some copies are still available from General Files.

Purpose/Description:

The State of Louisiana through DOTD, Public Works and Water Resources Section, maintains a statewide mapping information program on a matching funds basis with the U.S. Geological Survey. Topographic maps are compiled, revised, and issued and made available to the public for many diverse uses. This mapping program has been highly successful in the past in producing quadrangle maps and Louisiana was the first state to provide complete quadrangle coverage over its entire jurisdiction. The programs current focus is the updating of older maps and the creation of appropriate new maps in developing areas.
