Profile of System |
| DeSoto Public Transit is the only full service public transportation system in DeSoto Parish. In 1988, we operated a single-van operation under Title 20, catering almost exclusively to the elderly and disabled. Beginning in 1989 we began a Section 18 transit program which not only defined public transportation system programs, but also opened up a new world in transportation. We now operate 7 vans each service day fulfilling a demand-response need parish-wide. Five vans are lift-equipped, handicapped accessible. Our drivers and staff are required to undergo training throughout the year and are always current in the transit news world. If there is a way to improve, we will be the first in line. Our motto: "If it weren’t for you, our customers, there would be no purpose for us." |
