Transportation is one of the top priorities of the Madison Council on Aging (COA). The COA was chartered May 5, 1975. Transportation service started in 1983 with funding of $600 and one van. Today the COA has a fleet of five vehicles, four of which are wheelchair accessible, funding of $50,000 plus and contributions of $23,000 and growing daily.
It is the goal of Madison Parish Public Transit (MPPT) to meet all the transportation needs of the parish. MPPT has qualified and well trained drivers. Communication is maintained with drivers through citizen band radios and beepers.
