Profile of System

Shreveport contracts with Shreveport Transit Management, Inc. for the operation of the Shreveport Area Transportation System (SPORTRAN). Sixteen scheduled fixed routes provide service for Shreveport and Bossier City. Forty-five of the buses providing fixed route service are ADA accessible. A demand response paratransit service is also operated which is called the Lift Line. Persons unable to access the fixed route system because of disabilities are eligible for this service. An application must be made to SPORTRAN for this service. When qualified, a client must schedule service 24 hours in advance.

Transportation service are provided Monday through Friday to the aged and qualified persons that is handicapped and is provided on a first call first serve basis.

Transportation service is provided for medical appointments, dialysis, nutrition sites, foodstamp office, social service offices, and grocery stores.
