BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry today announced the appointment of former State Representative Roy J. Quezaire Jr. as the Legislative Liaison for the DOTD.

Quezaire, who was first elected to represent District 58 in 1991, resigned his legislative seat prior to the DOTD appointment. Since 2001, he served on the Highway, Transportation, and Public Works Committee, and has served as chairman since 2004.

“Roy Quezaire is an excellent hire for the Department of Transportation and Development,” Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco said.  “As former chairman of the House Transportation Committee, he brings a wealth of expertise to the department, and his well-earned respect from his colleagues in the Legislature will serve him well in this new position.  I gladly welcome him into my administration.”

“I am very excited to have Roy join us at DOTD,” said Bradberry. “His experience and knowledge of transportation needs and issues will be an asset to our team.”

Quezaire also served on the House Special Committee on Disaster Planning – Capital Area Subcommittee; the House Special Committee on Coastal Restoration and Flood Control; the House Special Committee on Disaster Planning, Crisis Management, Recovery and Long-Term Revitalization; and the House Committee on Homeland Security.

A native of Donaldsonville, Quezaire received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Southern University. He is the father of three children.
