DOTD signs design-build contract for I-12

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Interim Secretary Sherri LeBas, P.E., today signed a design-build contract to continue the widening of Interstate 12 to Juban Road.

This $36.2 million project is funded by stimulus funds received from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and state surplus funds. The budget for this project was capped at $37 million.

The design-build team is led by the prime contractor, Gilchrist Construction Co. The rest of the team consists of ABMB Engineers Inc., AECOM USA Inc., APEX Engineering Corp., GeoEngineers Inc. and the SJB Group.

Work will begin this summer and will finish in early 2012.
