Crews have completed the excavation of 500 cubic yards of dirt at the southbound roadway, near Buhlow Lake. They have installed 660, 14-inch piles at Fort Buhlow Bridge (Northbound), removed 3,188 square yards of pavement, poured 45 cubic yards of concrete in columns, and installed 8,778 pounds rebar steel. The installation of spring drains in the new southbound lanes of US 71/165 has been completed. The project is still scheduled for completion in January 2014.
Crews continue excavating, embankment work, and laying pipe. The crews are placing rebar in the cofferdam at Pier No. 14, for the footing. They are finishing up driving sheet piles and have begun excavating the river bottom in the cofferdam at Pier No. 15 (Pineville side). Crews are working to drive piles on the Alexandria approaches and also form up caps at the KCS Railroad Overpass (Northbound). At Central State Hospital on Rainbow Drive the crews are working to relocate utilities and at old Graham Road they are removing existing pavement.
