DOTD accepted bids for the U.S. 167 Widening project in the city limits of Dry Prong yesterday. The project cost is estimated at just over $10 million. The apparent winning bidder was JB James Construction LLC. When complete, the new road will include two travel lanes in each direction with a center turn lane, paved shoulders, and a 35-mph posted speed limit through town. We will also make sure there is access to each business along the route at all times when construction is taking place. We expect the project to begin construction in early 2013.
