DOTD to close Edgard/Reserve Ferry, Corps to upgrade levee

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will close the Edgard/Reserve Ferry landing on Oct. 12. 

The ferry is closing down so that the United States Army Corps of Engineers can make improvements to the levee.  The improvements will prevent access to the ferry landing. 

The closure is estimated to last until March 2007 and is contingent upon the Corps’ completion of the project. 

An alternate route for the ferry is Veterans’ Memorial Bridge (La. 3213) in Gramercy.
